"Aurora Photonics Inc." and "The University of Chicago - Operator of Argonne National Laboratory" entered in to a exclusive license agreement transfering the rights to API for for their 'Biochip reader with Enchanced Illumination and Bio-array Positioning Apparatus" patent number US6,620,623 B1. The illumination technology provides superior performance of microarray elements over conventional illumination used in scanning methods.  Additionally it elminimates any moving parts required to excite microarray elements thereby increasing reliability, reducing size and cost.
